Wk 14 – Classmate Conversation – Jessica Obrique

2016-11-30-15-04-56This is Jessica Obrique! It is nice to meet another Filipino student in the class and one who is intelligent. She is a Computer Science major here at CSULB and this is her 5th year. This week we answered “Discuss what the College Experience will be like for a student in 2036”. This one relatively straight forward for the both of us which is advancements in technology for students. Technology is an ever changing field in which people like me, an electrical engineer major, and her, a computer science major, specialize in. As phones, tablets, and computers improve and expand in their functionalities more latest efficient gadgets are developed later on. In the far future, in this case 2036, our modern technology will be obsolete both for the best or the worst. Jessica and I discussed that the benefits would be an easier and cheaper access to technology  while the downside of advanced technology would be the fact that perhaps the curriculum or pathways to acquire a certain major will be different. There will be more classes or more subjects to study in order to keep up with the ever changing technology. Textbooks on the other hand will either be more or less since more and more classes are allowing electronic books.

Aside from our handheld technology, we both hope that there would be more people in college since there are several programs and scholarships that encourage students to pursue a degree in college. In addition there is an incentive that there would be a high income reward at the end of their journey towards their career. Jessica added that since more people are in college, less parking space which is a huge hassle.

We both concluded that the student will have fun in the year 2036 because schools will change, adapt, and incorporate new developed technologies in their classes in order to provide students a comfortable and safe learning environment.
